Protogynous Type II
An amazingly prolific bearer. This tree is hardy and productive in a variety of conditions, including a record-breaking freeze of –18ºF! Yields big, easy-to-crack “papershell” pecans year after year. Originates from Calhoun County, Illinois in 1959. Introduced in 1970. Heat-tolerant. Ripens in mid– to late-October. Grafted. Self-pollinating, but will yield larger crops if pollinated with Pawnee or Starking® Hardy Giant™.
