Suncrest Peach

A drip-down-your-chin peach. One of the juiciest peaches around, with very firm, fine-flavored, yellow flesh. The bright red skin is simply beautiful. Suncrest is the peach immortalized by the book Epitaph for a Peach: Four Seasons on My Family Farm, by David Mas Masumoto (1995). Blooms later than most peaches; the blossoms can take a frost. This consistent producer originated in Fresno, CA and was introduced in 1959. Freestone. Self-pollinating, but yields bigger crops when planted near a different peach variety with a similar bloom time. Ripens in August. Photo courtesy of Regents of the University of California.
